AUSTIN (KXAN) — In response to severe storms and flash flooding across Central Texas, several emergency relief efforts are underway to help those impacted.
Gov. Greg Abbott announced The Rebuild Texas Fund for people to donate to the state’s relief effort, with cleanup starting in communities as soon as water recedes.
The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation launched a relief fund on July 16 to support families with children affected by flooding in Bexar and Uvalde counties. The foundation requests financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteers, using the foundation’s website to donate.
The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country launched the Texas Hill Country Flood Relief Fund for people, businesses and organizations to support. Funds raised will provide emergency assistance, essential services and long-term recovery through nonprofit organizations and civic partners.
The Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Disaster Relief is encouraging Texans to support recovery efforts through donations and volunteers. Financial donations and volunteer applications can be found online.
Williamson County has a list of volunteer and giving opportunities on its website, from financial donations to the Wilco Cares Fund and Operation Liberty Hill to volunteering at the Williamson County Animal Shelter or through the City of Liberty’s Flood Disaster Relief.
Austin Pets Alive! is asking the Austin community to foster, adopt or donate to free up capacity for animals displaced by the disaster. APA! needs to clear out its facilities to assist the animals in need of shelter. Ways to help include adopting an animal, foster an animal for a minimum of three weeks, and donating to fund relief efforts.
