Rebuilding homes

The 2025 summer floods that impacted the Hill Country took over 100 lives and left many that survived unhoused. As this part of Texas dealt with more torrential rains in July of this year, most of the damage the floods caused this time was structural, impacting again hundreds of homes and businesses. One nonprofit organization that continues to step up to assist flood survivors is the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Austin Dickson is their CEO and joins us to explain how they’re helping.

While this summer’s floods damaged homes and businesses in the Texas Hill Country, they’ve also helped replenish water reservoirs in Central Texas. And in New Braunfels, as Lauren Kendrick shows us, the torrential rains are contributing to a unique phenomenon underground inside the Natural Bridge Caverns.
