On Monday, Aug. 3, San Antonio nonprofit LiftFund announced it would begin accepting applications for the 2026 Flood Rebuilding Grant Program funded by the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation.
“We’re honored that the (Community Foundation) trusted us with these funds,” said Adrian Gonzalez, chief certified development company officer for LiftFund.
Small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Kerr County and Comfort can apply for grants of up to $50,000 until 5 p.m Thursday, Aug. 20.
To qualify for a grant, the business in question must:
- Have been physically damaged by the July 16, 2026, flooding.
- Be located in Kerr County or Comfort.
- Have been in business since at least July 1, 2025.
- Plan to reopen or remain open in Kerr County at least 18 months after receiving the grant.
- Demonstrate that they do not have sufficient cash or other readily available financial resources to reasonably stabilize, continue or restore business operations without grant assistance.
“When a small business reopens, the impact reaches far beyond its front door. Employees return to work, customers regain trusted local services and neighborhoods begin to recover,” said Amy Hereford, LiftFund president and CEO. “That’s why investing in rebuilding small businesses is an investment in the future of the entire community.”
Grants are expected to be awarded to Kerr County organizations between Aug. 21 and Sept. 30.
