Foundation outlines funding strategy to support immediate needs and long-term recovery across the Texas Hill Country
KERRVILLE, Texas — The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country today announced its flood recovery priorities for communities affected by the July floods, committing $18 million to support emergency financial assistance, case management, housing recovery and small business recovery across the Texas Hill Country.
The Foundation’s recovery investments combine donor-approved funds from the 2025 flood recovery effort with new donations received following the July 2026 floods. Together, those investments will help address immediate needs while supporting long-term recovery efforts throughout the region.
“The needs following these floods are immediate, but recovery will take years,”Austin Dickson, CEO of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, said. “Our priority is to connect families, businesses and communities with the resources they need today while continuing the long-term work of rebuilding.”
The Foundation’s recovery strategy focuses on four priorities:
Emergency financial assistance for families. The Foundation has approved more than $1.6 million in grants to four nonprofit organizations providing direct financial assistance to individuals and families across the Texas Hill Country to help meet immediate recovery needs. Housing recovery. The Foundation has committed at least $11.3 million to housing recovery efforts, including home repair and rebuilding, while continuing to work with philanthropic partners to expand housing resources as additional funding becomes available.
Small business assistance. The Foundation has approved a $5 million grant to LiftFund to provide grants to eligible small businesses in Kerr County, helping business owners stabilize operations, retain employees and begin reopening as quickly as possible.
Long-term recovery. Building on investments made following the 2025 floods, the Foundation will continue supporting housing recovery for households impacted by last year’s floods, mental health services, emergency preparedness and other community recovery initiatives designed to strengthen the region over the months and years ahead.
Nonprofit partners are beginning to deploy assistance, and the Foundation encourages residents affected by the floods to get help by filling out the needs assessment form.

Families seeking assistance in finding trauma- and grief-informed care can:

How individuals and families can access financial assistance
To apply for financial assistance, households must fill out the needs assessment. One of the Community Foundation’s four nonprofit partners will then contact each household to confirm their information and provide instructions for receiving assistance.
