Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country Provides Update on Kerr County Flood Relief Efforts

KERRVILLE, TEXAS—One month after devastating floods swept through Kerr County, the
Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country today shared an update on the region’s
recovery and relief efforts. Since the Fund’s inception, more than $100 million in donations
has been received to support flood relief efforts, and the Foundation has made grants to
close to 50 nonprofit organizations across the region.

“Over the past month our community has faced immense heartbreak in the wake of the
flood’s devastation,” Austin Dickson, Chief Executive Officer of the Community Foundation
of the Texas Hill Country, said. “While those wounds may never fully heal, we are deeply
moved by the unwavering support we’ve received from near and far. This compassion
drives our resolve to rebuild in a way that honors those impacted and strengthens our
community for the long journey ahead.”

In the month following the flood, the Foundation has distributed approximately $10.8
million in grant funding to vetted nonprofit organizations that are actively serving affected
communities across the Hill Country. For the full list of nonprofit organizations receiving
grants, please visit https://rebuildkerr.org/grantee-info/.

Additionally, the Foundation announced the Kerr County Flood Relief Initiative to address
the current and future needs of the community. The initiative is made up of four funds:

● Housing Recovery – Committed to repair, rebuild and rehouse displaced families
and individuals across the community

● Mental Health & Well-Being – Expand counseling, school-based mental health
and community healing programs

● Economic Recovery & Quality of Life – Support for reopening businesses,
cultural institutions and community centers

● Future Long-Term Needs – Focused on long-term needs

Funds will be guided by an advisory council of trusted leaders including builders, educators,
counselors, business owners and pastors, to ensure funding decisions are informed,
thoughtful and grounded.

Those impacted by the flood are encouraged to fill out a community needs assessment to
help inform the Foundation in making equitable decisions moving forward.

Additionally, those who lead or serve nonprofits or other organizations wanting to help the
recovery efforts are encouraged to fill out the resource assessment to inform the
Foundation of the support needed to continue serving the community. Both assessments
can be found at www.rebuildkerr.org.
