Centers for Children and Families receives $100,000 grant for flood counseling services

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – Centers for Children and Families has been awarded a $100,000 grant to provide free counseling services for individuals affected by the July 2025 Texas Hill Country flood.

The Permian Basin nonprofit received the funding from the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.

“This grant is a tremendous opportunity for our organization to stand beside those most impacted by the recent flooding tragedy,” Executive Director Kristi Edwards said. “With this support, we can offer counseling both in person and virtually, ensuring that anyone affected by the Hill Country flood has access to care.”

Expanding outreach efforts

The grant will allow Centers for Children and Families to offer no-cost counseling to anyone impacted by the Texas Hill Country flood, including those who lost loved ones and others affected by the disaster.

Counseling sessions will be provided without limit at the organization’s Midland and Odessa locations, with virtual options available to ensure accessibility.

“Our team is expanding outreach so families know they are not alone and that we are here for them,” Edwards said. “We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country for believing in our mission and investing in our response to this summer’s disaster.”

By providing these services during such a critical time, the organization continues its mission to help children, individuals and families successfully navigate life’s challenges.

Centers for Children and Families encourages community members to join in celebrating the grant award and to learn more about opportunities to get involved.
